Lovely cycling stop off for a coffee. A bit pricier than our normal brew stops but friendly staff and pleasant clean surroundings. Excellent.
Very definitely cafe food and not a restaurant. Good quality and well presented. Scone was a bit crunchy and over baked. Staff were humourless which didn't encourage me to return soon. Sprung chairs mean you sink in when you sit down making the table surface a bit too high for eating.
I've not tried all the food here. But the soup and coffee have always been very good. Prices are a bit on the high side but even so it can get very busy at times and empty tables inside in winter are hard to find. There are plenty of tables outside though if you're willing to suffer the cold.
Nice ambiance and drinks were nice. Reasonable cake selection but my party had sandwiches on brown. The bread was thickly cut which looked appealing but in the event was bone dry. Not helped by the fact that cafe ambio had jumped on the bandwagon of not bettering bread (On my open sandwich at least) The cake similarly looked appealing but was dry on one side and the butter icing contained insufficient sugar so was basically butter. The staff also failed to serve the cakes so I had to go back and ask for them.
I prefer to visit/support local coffee shops. This one is in the grounds of Astley park with some good views and walks.The cakes are nice and the coffee is good. Staff are friendly and helpful. I have only given three stars due the price. The high street coffee shop chains are cheaper.
